Saif al-Islam Gaddafi under arrest
The International Criminal Court confirmed that the arrest warrant issued in 2011 against the son of the late Libyan leader, the current candidate in the next presidential election Saif al-Islam Gaddafi remains valid.
ICC spokesman Fadi Al-Abdullah said: “Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi has had an arrest warrant issued against him since 2011 and it is still in force.”
The spokesman indicated, according to the channel, that the court refrains from commenting on any political matter, but that the legal status of the son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi before it has not changed.
This comes in the wake of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi submitting nomination papers for the Libyan presidential elections scheduled for next December and receiving his electoral card.
